Jungle Activities

Belize Lodge offers excellent opportunities to experience the wilderness, wildlife and birds of Belize. The Boden Creek Ecological Preserve, 13,600 acres of lowland tropical broadleaf forest, represents one of the last remaining large tracts in Central America and is teeming with wildlife. Central America covers only 0.5% of the world’s land area yet contains 5% of all known biodiversity.

Wildlife, Birding and Ecology Tours

Explore Boden Creek Reserve, a haven for wildlife. Over 500 species of birds have been recorded in Belize, tapir and other mammals are in abundance, and the largest concentration of jaguar can be found within the Golden Stream watershed. Birders, wildlife viewers and nature lovers will love touring the reserve on their own or with our excellent guides.

Jungle Hikes, Mountain Bikes or Electric Safari Carts

Explore Boden Creek Reserve’s miles of nature trails, easily accessible to everyone on foot, or with our mountain bikes and electric safari carts. Immerse yourself in the true tropical jungle with our legendary local Maya bush-guides.

Cave Expeditions

Waterfalls cascade down limestone rock escarpments, and rivers empty into elaborate cave systems in southern Belize. Tours will take you to Blue Creek Cave, a large cave in a mature forest ecological reserve with a great swimming area; to Tiger Cave with its wide interior chamber lit by holes in the ceiling and ancient Maya pottery shards; and to Laguna Cave with its extensive stalagmite and stalactite formations.

Ballum Na or House of the Jaguar

At Ballam Na Lodge, visit our 2.1 acre Jaguar habitat, home to two male jaguars, Bosch and Xupi, brothers who were born in captivity.

Tree Canopy Viewing Platform

Located at Jungle Camp, our tree canopy platform is suspended 110' above the jungle floor in a giant ceiba tree. You’ll literally have a bird’s eye view of the forest canopy and its rarely seen birds, insects and plant species. It is also an incredible location to view sunrise and sunset. Wildlife Rescue Center

The Wildlife Care Center of Belize located in Boden Creek Ecological Reserve operates a Howler and Spider Monkey rescue, rehabilitation, release and research program. The center also works with parrots confiscated from the illegal pet trade market.
